Every other month I provide you with a brief update of our good fortune and progress. While we have enjoyed a busy summer and our strategic work is proving to be the key to serving more men and their loved ones than ever before, I’d like to skip the specifics and just mention that our hearts break and go out to everyone in the Houston and surrounding areas who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Last fall, we held two Bristlecone Project fundraisers in the Houston area with great success; the generosity, hospitality, and warmth shown to us by our friends in Houston was very much appreciated. In that same spirit, for those of you who may be thinking about supporting our work this month, I’d ask that you consider directing your donation to the charity of your choice working to alleviate the hardships caused by Harvey. We’re all in this together.
P.S. A reminder that our new online support group for men who have experienced sexual assault as adults will launch on September 7th. We’re anticipating that this group will fill up fast (capacity is 12 men per session), as this population is greatly underserved. Please share with your networks, especially any men who might benefit from this service, as well as service providers working with men. All of our support groups are free and anonymous and can be accessed at 1in6.org/supportgroup.
