1in6 Joins Panel for ICAN-CSEC Training

Victims of Internet Facilitated Sex Crimes: Advocacy, Protection and Legal Remedies

This training is presented by ICAN, CSEC and the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, who will define nonconsensual pornography, Internet facilitated sex crimes, including sextortion, revenge pornography and cyberstalking.

The training will also include the following:

  • Information to increase awareness and skills in identifying the harm to victims

  • Current data and trends

  • Civil and criminal remedies, federal vs. state legal issues

  • Victim support, victim rights issues and resources available

  • Paths to protection and justice available, sharing way to improve protection and advocacy efforts

  • Training on Internet safety for service providers to share with child victims, guardians and adult victims

Who Will Benefit:

Los Angeles County professionals who work with minors and adults who have been victimized by Internet facilitated sex crimes. Legal Aid and NGO attorneys, schools, nonprofit mental health therapists, child protective services, school counseling and security, government and nonprofit victim services including sexual assault and domestic violence service providers, law enforcement, prosecutors and child advocacy centers.
