September / October 2013 Newsletter
I hope that you and your family and friends enjoyed the summer and are looking forward to ushering in the fall season. As we say good-bye to summer and welcome the new school semester, I want to give you a quick update regarding our website, and a look ahead at our Men on Campus (M.O.C.) campaign.
This past summer, the 1in6 website saw a dramatic increase in traffic. During the three months of June, July and August, we welcomed over 107,000 visitors, with over 46,000 (or 43%) of them being ‘unique’ visitors. Our website remains a critical element of our three-component approach to our work, which also includes our Awareness & Outreach and our Training initiatives. Because of the far-reaching impact of the website, we continue to pour considerable resources into the development of new content, and the design and development of the infrastructure of the site, keeping it current and intuitive. As we budget for 2014, you can be certain that the further enhancement of the 1in6 website is a priority.
As mentioned above, another important component of our work is our Awareness & Outreach initiative, which includes our newly launched M.O.C. campaign. Spearheaded by Martha Marin, and a committed group of over 30+ professionals, representing organizations, colleges and universities from across the country, this group is already planning for the next semester and beyond. The new campaign will draw on the thought partnership of the committee members and the tools and resources of 1in6, to reach more students than ever before, staying true to our mission of destigmatizing the issue and lowering the age at which men begin their recovery. As this campaign rolls out, we will keep you informed of our progress.
Thank you for your continued interest in and support of our work.
